Italian brainrot is a set of AI-made creatures with fake Italian names that spread on TikTok in 2025. Its exact origin is unclear. Know Your Meme and Wikipedia point to Tralalero Tralala, a shark in sneakers posted by TikTok user @eZburger401 in early January 2025. Wikipedia also traces the phrase to an October 2023 meme about Dwayne Johnson, so the roots are older than the trend.

Every character is already two things glued together: a crocodile and a bomber plane, a ballerina and a coffee cup. A merge game does that on purpose, one step at a time.
